It’s February, and that means February Album Writing Month… or FAWM, for short, where we write 14 songs during the shortest month of the year- music, lyrics and all.
Our last two albums, The Taker and The Raygun Girls, were both written during FAWM in 2011 and FAWM 2012.
There is also the RPM Challenge happening during this time. Same idea, but it’s 10 songs or 35 minutes, and create the packaging.
We’ve met some great musicians and vocalists in past years, that we look forward to working with again- Peter Watkinson (two amazing guitar solos on The Raygun Girls album) and Jacinda Espinosa come to mind (vocals on The Taker album and lyrics on The Raygun Girls album).
It’s 2013, and we started heading in this direction with The Raygun Girls. The music is now even heavier, and faster. For those musically inclined, we are playing in Dropped C and mostly at 160 BPM, with double bass blast beats scattered throughtout. If you want to listen in on the process, check out our page at FAWM.org/fawmers/raygungirls/
