Paranoia

“Paranoia” off of our 2009 album Dirt Collector.

“Paranoia” was the first single off of the 2009 album, Dirt Collector.  It was also the first song written after the departure of lead guitarist, Jason Donnelly.

“Paranoia” shows the heavier, groove oriented side of The Raygun Girls – setting up the style for the 2011 album, The Taker.

In the studio, engineer/producer, Brian played drums on all of the Dirt Collector tracks, adding a huge depth to the songs.

“Paranoia” is also one of the songs with the least amount of programmed loops or synths.

The lyrics were put together from three other songs that were never finished, but mainly concentrating on the line, “I never wanted this.”  Even though on first glance/listen, these seem like depressing lyrics, they are cries for help – the screams coming from inside asking for help.

You’re killing me
You’re killing me
The brightness is killing me
I’ve waited this long
For the sunshine
I will wait another day
Breathing slowly
Life is choking
I’m coming up for air

*I never wanted this
My eyes are open wide
This is my paranoia
See inside
I never wanted this
These eyes that shut so tight
You are my paranoia
See inside

There is no pain anymore
I’ve given it up
To fall to my knees
In this pain I believe
My head’s above the water
The final hope for saviour
I’m dying here to be with you again

*I never wanted this
My eyes are open wide
This is my paranoia
See inside
I never wanted this
These eyes that shut so tight
You are my paranoia
See inside

This love is killing me
This love is killing me
