“Bombs” off of our 2004 album Mars Eclipsing.

“Bombs” was one of the last songs to be recorded for Mars Eclipsing.  Geoff had been listening a lot to Killing Joke’s album Pandemonium, in particular the songs “Mathematics of Chaos” and “Pleasures of the Flesh”.

As was usual back then, Geoff dialed up a sound for the guitar and asked Jamie to do a mid-tempo beat.  And out came “Bombs”.  Jamie was left to his own devices to add a synth line.  Geoff was surprised to hear almost the exact same synth sounds and notes as Killing Joke’s “Pleasures of the Flesh”, even though Jamie had never heard that song.  Geoff was pleased.

Lyrics: Geoff Saavedra

I’m waiting in the scorpion brain
For the right moment to sting you again
Drag you down with me
Into my black hole

*Outside the bombs are falling
Inside of me the bombs are exploding

I’m just looking for a savior
In this lifetime of failure
You’re my special little devil angel
Inside of me

This pleasure is too much to hold
Fighting forces out of control
This pleasure is too much
